Legal & shippable
In the Netherlands, magic mushroom grow kits are legal to buy and own. The kits contain fully colonized mycelium of the Psilocybe cubensis mushroom. Because no mushrooms (fruiting bodies) are present yet, they do not fall under the prohibited substances of the Dutch Opium Act.
As long as no mushrooms have grown, the kit does not fall under prohibited substances. This means that shipping to both EU and non-EU countries is in principle permitted at customs checks. Please note: this does not mean that growing or using is legal everywhere.
Growing and using magic mushrooms is permitted in the Netherlands for personal use. In other countries inside and outside the EU, however, legislation may differ:
- Grow kits often fall under the Mutual Recognition Regulation, which means they may be sold throughout the EU if they are legal in one member state.
Use and cultivation are subject to the local laws of the country where you live or use the product. In some countries, growing or consuming is prohibited, even if the grow kit is legally sold.
How to use the grow kit?
- Place the grow tray inside the included grow bag.
- Seal the bag with the supplied sealing clips.
- Put the kit in a bright, but not sunny spot at a temperature of ± 20–25 °C.
✅ No growing experience or extra tools required – this kit is fully ready-to-grow. Within 1 to 3 weeks you'll see the first mushrooms appear. Harvest them as soon as the caps start to open. The first flush is often a bit narrower; the second is usually considerably larger and stronger.
Storage
- Unopened: store refrigerated (2–4 °C), keeps for 3–6 months
- After opening: start immediately
- Harvested: stays fresh for a few days in the fridge; dried and airtight, keeps almost indefinitely

Are truffles legal in my country?
Psilocybin truffles are fully legal in the Netherlands. They fall under the category of food products and are regulated by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) — the same body that inspects regular food products. Thanks to this legal status, they are safe and fully permitted for production and sale within the Netherlands.
EU Mutual Recognition Legislation
Within the European Union, the principle of mutual recognition applies: a product that is legally on the market in one member state may also be offered or imported in other member states. This can only be deviated from when there are demonstrable risks to public health. Because psilocybin truffles are considered safe and non-addictive, they fall within this framework. European law carries more weight here than national legislation, which means that local authorities and customs have no grounds to hold back an order.
